The Whitewater Valley Railroad is proud to announce Throttle Time. The general public will be offered a chance to operate one of many historic diesel-electric locomotives on the Whitewater Valley Railroad main line as a guest engineer. Each guest engineer will participate in a brief operational training session before sitting at the throttle for 30 minutes of actual hands-on locomotive operations. The locomotive will operate "light", without attached train cars. Operation will begin with a walk-around inspection and orientation to the locomotive, followed by basic instruction on safety, operation, starting and stopping. The instructor will then take the locomotive to an appropriate location along the track where the guest engineer will take over the locomotive's controls.
Times available are 12:01 PM, 1:01 PM, 2:01 PM, and 3:01 PM. The Throttle Time program costs $150, and includes a one-year membership in the Whitewater Valley Railroad, a copy of our current Book of Rules and Employees Time Table, and subscription to our newsletter "Towpath Tracks." To make reservations please call Grand Central Station at (765) 825-2054. This makes a great gift for that special person! Space is limited so don't let this opportunity pass you by.
Participants must be 18 years of age or older, have normal vision and hearing, be able to climb steps into the locomotive cab unassisted, and be able to understand and follow instructions. Participants will be asked to sign a waiver of liability in case of injury or accident.
Throttle Time will take place at the Whitewater Valley Railroad's main shop and yard area at South Connersville, IN at the intersection of Eastern Avenue and State Route 121. (This is 3/4 mile south of Grand Central Station in downtown Connersville, IN.)

This event departs from Historic Metamora, a former canal town platted in 1838, and travels along the Whitewater River into the neighboring hills and woods. Along the way, passengers will encounter local lore about the railroad's tragic past and perhaps special visitors from both the mortal and immortal worlds will make an appearance.
This haunting lasts approximately 30 minutes along a historic stretch of the Whitewater Valley Railroad and Canal. Come with us as we travel back in time to when riding the rails was the preferred method of travel in America.
