Whitewater Valley Railroad

The Whitewater Valley Railroad has been devastated by catastrophic flooding.

In the early morning hours of August 13, 2026, the West Fork of the Whitewater River crested at an unprecedented 21.78 feet at Alpine, Indiana. Because our railroad follows the historic Whitewater Canal towpath alongside the river, our line received the full force of the floodwaters. Recovery efforts are underway, but significant work lies ahead before trains can operate again. Repairs to our railroad will require time, resources, and the support of people who value this historic treasure.

Motorcar in Metamora

Hop aboard for a 20-minute motorcar ride through Metamora! It’s a fun way to explore the area while helping our flood recovery efforts.

  • Schedule: Every Saturday & Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (Through October 31)
  • Tickets: Available in person at the Metamora Ticket Office (19056 Main Street, Metamora)
  • Suggested Donation: $10 per rider

All proceeds directly support repairs to our track, locomotives, coaches, and cabooses. Thank you!
